CalculiX
The structural and thermal solver of the open workbench. The assistant builds the geometry, meshes it with Gmsh, writes the deck, runs it and reads the results; two fixed problems also run as verified recipes.
On an installation with the open workbench the assistant sets up and runs CalculiX cases itself: static stress and deflection, natural frequencies, buckling, heat conduction and thermal stress. Such a result is marked verified against theory when it agrees with a named theoretical value, and otherwise converged and checked, not independently verified. Two fixed problems, a cantilever under an end load and under a uniform load, run as recipes whose result an independent assessor checks.
This describes the pack, not what a task can execute.
- linear and nonlinear structural mechanics
- thermal and thermomechanical material support
- NAFEMS-style benchmark inputs and evidence extraction
- input deck, mesh include, status, and convergence evidence as auditable artifacts
- Verify the support set removes rigid body motion for the active structural dimensionality.
- Prefer quadratic structural elements for the benchmark family unless the pack explicitly declares otherwise.
- Confirm every section references a valid material and every output request lands inside the active *STEP.
- Review .cvg/.sta outputs for convergence evidence before promoting the run to validation.
